My top 5 books for starting a Minimalist and Simpler Life

In the last few years, I have come across some very good reads which have shaped my beliefs around how I want to live my life.

It started because I began to notice and despise more and more mindless consumerism. Even though financially I managed to build a good career path for myself so I could afford to buy “things” however I hated the continuous push for more and more consumerism that kept escalating. That and the perpetual message: As buyers, we aren’t ever “good enough” if we haven’t got the last, new thing. Have you ever felt this way? And I am not even talking about the evident negative impact on the environment. Endless stuff is produced to be bought and discarded every season and I firmly believe the planet needs this to end. There is just too much fluff and we would be happier with less, functional, and beautiful things in my opinion. Additionally, I also felt overwhelmed by people, situations, noises, so I looked inside and around me to realise and come to term with who am I and what ultimately makes me happy. This among other things has led me to start the mymindfulhome blog.

From years working in fast-paced corporate jobs (worked for 6y in Japanese companies), and after a masters degree, all I really dreamed of was a simple life, so I started to read and I found some souls out there whom voice really resonated. Hope you too will discover some new lifestyle inspiration.
